Jack Sheffield at November HWS meeting

An account of the November HWS meeting by Carole Hastings

Hilary and I enjoyed a great evening listening to Jack Sheffield at the HWS meeting in November at the University of Winchester.  We’d both just joined and weren’t sure what to expect.  Jack Sheffield [author of the Teacher books series] is a great raconteur.  He was discovered 6 years ago at the Winchester Writers’ Conference and hasn’t looked back since.  He spoke on how to get published - a subject dear to all budding writers’ hearts - and gave us some good pointers.  He covered everything from the benefit of decent research and planning right through to getting an agent.  There’s a writing competition each month at the HWS so everyone feels involved.  The second Tuesday evening of the month is in our diaries now and we’re looking forward to December 13 as we will be selling our books there at the end of the Poetry evening ...
