Sir Ian McKellen visits the Chesil Theatre

Award-winning actor, Sir Ian McKellen, made a surprise visit to the Chesil Theatre in Winchester on Saturday 18th October, to watch the ten, ten-minute plays, which were part of a national competition that has been running since 2010.

Sir Ian, whose incredible career in film and theatre is both renowned and respected, (not least for his role as Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies), met with the writers, cast and crew, to discuss the plays and the characters.

Congratulations again to Kirsty Applebaum, whose play 'Good Luck Commander Mulberry',  performed as part of the Chesil Theatre's 10x10 2014 Play Writing Competition, recieved rave reviews. One of the actors who played the part of 'First Officer Sarah-Louise Franklin', (one of Kirsty's characters), is seen in conversation with Sir Ian.

Barry Dudley of the Little Theatre Guild wrote: "The ten winning plays ranged from the "hilarious comedy", 'Good Luck, Commander Mulberry', in which three astronauts find themselves cast adrift in space halfway through a 300 day mission..."
