Winchester Poetry Festival

Winchester's inaugural Festival of Poetry takes place on 12th - 14th September 2014

Inspiring poetry: a three day celebration of readings, discussion and workshops.

The inaugural Winchester Poetry Festival has three integrated strands: it is rooted in the centenary commemoration of the First World War and its poetry, and it is a celebration of Hampshire’s contribution to our national literary heritage.

It is also an opportunity to bring together thirty contemporary poets, writers and editors for readings and discussions about, among other matters, the impact of conflict in poetry today. In addition, there will be community and learning projects and preview events prior to the festival.

Writers taking part include Jackie Kay, Michael Longley, David Constantine, Edna Longley, Patience Agbabi, Olivia McCannon, Ros Barber, Julia Copus, Brian Patten and Zena Edwards.
